Back in Tokyo (one of many) – Travel Photography

Hello stranger. I know it’s been a while. It has been a tumultuous year. I will soon write a bit about it, but I can’t right now. It had been two years since my last visit to Tokyo, this time it was for work and it was glorious even-though we had some hurdles. I will elaborate on that too another time. For now enjoy this part of many as an homage, a love letter of mine to Tokyo.

Griffith Observatory – Travel Photography

The Observatory must be one of my favourite places on the planet. If I had one wish to choose a place to live, this might be it. Overlooking the vast expanse of Los Angeles, the wonderful Architecture and Griffith Park surrounding it. So here are two older and one new photo from my most recent trip to LA. The two old ones I reedited, as I really did not like the the old editing anymore. Also, as you might have seen, you only see LA and not the Observatory, but it was shot from there. So ok, a couple of…

Cadillac CTS-V at Lake Mead

Taking this best from LA to Vegas and back was so much fun. Such a cool car. I wish we had more time with it, but the time we had I think we used well. and going to Lake Mead and get a couple of shots after or before visiting Hoover Dam. The weather didn’t really give me the mood I was looking for that day, so black and white was the best option I felt. Well still feel. High Contrast, not really interested in showing too much detail besides the car. Even though it is there. This was shot…

The Neon Museum – Las Vegas

While on vacation in Las Vegas, end of last year, we finally took the chance and visited the Neon Museum. One of those must visit tourist destinations. We were a bit unlucky with the weather, and not only that day, but I will go back the next time I am in the area for sure. As with many Museums and landmarks like that a lot depends on your guide that takes you around and gives you all teh facts and personal tidbits, but I am sure here everyone is into the subject matter more than enough. The experience there also…

Apple MacBook – Thoughts

So for my LA trip last year I had an Apple MacBook on loan from Apple to test. I was hoping to get a maxed out one with the m7 chip and all that, but that wasn’t available and I was sent the mid-range version and thought instead of writing about it I’ll record myself talking about it a bit. As I travel quite often for different projects and jobs it would be nice to have a smaller machine that can do most or all of the work I need to do while on the road. Minimizing gear normally is…

Asphalt Dining – or how I drove 5000km through Europe to cook a beautiful dish

Last year me and my friend Chef Reuven Schockner went on a roadtrip to Malaga, Spain for an Event with Mercedes-Benz. We took the opportunity to film the whole trip and also show the dish Reuven had come up with for this trip. Inspired by everything that a trip like this lets you experience. From Düsseldorf to Paris to Bordeaux to Bilbao to Madrid to Malaga and back.

Travel Photography – Tokyo (Part 3)

So i have written about my expectations before I got to Tokyo, I have written about my experience in Tokyo and what I took away from it. That leaves me with what I am looking for next time I get to Tokyo/Japan, because I really really need to get back there. If you haven’t guessed yet, I have really become a huge Tokyo fan. Number one on my list is for sure the Studio Ghibli Museum. A shame I missed it the first time around, hopefully I wont next time. Then the two most important point for me will be…

Travel Photography – Tokyo (Part 2)

If you missed the first part of this Tokyo series of three you should check it out here —> Travel Photography – Tokyo (Part 1). As I was saying before, Japan really surprised me. And some of the things people normally would say are cliches hit the nail right on the head. Probably true with quite some of cliches, for so many other things too. Interestingly enough Tokyo is the cleanest Metropolis I have seen so far and I am not too sure how they pull it off. Especially when you compare it to cities like Berlin, Paris and New…

Travel Photography – Tokyo (Part 1)

Not sure where to start. This trip was very special in more than one way. Tokyo, as is Hong Kong, has been on my bucket list for a long long time. And when we started looking into where to go for a vacation it was between Tokyo and Hong Kong. We decided on Tokyo in the end because of a couple of reasons. All of them gut decisions of course. As so many other people I got interested in, specifically, Chinese and Japanese culture through movies. From classic Hong Kong films to early Anime films and TV series. My first…

Travel photography – To the North-cape and back (part two)

So we made it all up in one piece. An amazing trip, exhausting, beautiful and lots of great opportunities to shoot some amazing photos, but when I first heard of the idea for the trip, I thought it would make so much sense to not fly back, but to drive back down all the way through Norway this time. Luckily I was able to convince the fine people at Mercedes-Benz and even get the Hasselblad with me on board for this part of the trip. I got a H5D-40 and a couple of beautiful lenses with and I was ready…

Travel photography – To the North-cape and back (part one)

This is one of those trips. Probably a once in a lifetime thing. Especially in this shape and form. Mercedes-Benz organized another fantastic roadtrip and this one went a little beyond everything we have done so far. What I have done so far for sure. The main trip was planned to promote the the GLE and take a group of around 22 Journalists, Bloggers, Instagramers from Kitzbühel in Austria to the North-cape. an at least 4000km Journey. The group was a fantastic mix of people from all over the world. Russia to South Africa, Italy, France and so on.

Travel photography – #MBRT15 road trip.

It was that time of year again and I was, for the first time, on my way to Alabama. Birmingham, Alabama to be precise. To meet up with a group of Bloggers, journalists, photographers and videographers to drive all the way up to New York City and the New York Autoshow. We would be “guarding” the brand new GLE from A to B and produce some beautiful work along the way. As so often on group trips like this time will be limited, so you can’t go totally bonkers and should be thoughtful of the others. Also the time table…

Travel Photography – Brazil (part three of three)

Here we have a the last part of this series. It certainly brings you one of my highlights of the trip, which was meeting Mike Horn briefly. He was “in town” for taking the german soccer team for a spin on his fantastic boat and attend a little happening for the press. A crazy trip for sure. learned a lot and saw some places and stuff I hadn’t before. Always a good thing.

Travel Photography – Brazil (part one of three)

It feels like ages ago, so much happened since Brazil and the Worldcup. So many Jobs, so much work that all this just feels so far away. I was a crazy trip, fun, interesting, but a very focussed view on a small area of Brazil. Santo André, close to Porto Seguro in Bahia. We didn’t get out of that are as all we shot was about the area and the german Soccerteam and their camp. These photos are mostly my private shots, quite a wild mix and not related to the project we shot there at all. The film is…
