Ford Germany was so kind to invite me to this years Schloss Dyck classic car Event, which some compare directly to Goodwoods Festival of Speed. To put a beautiful red cherry on top, we met at the Ford Classic garage and were allowed to pick a car from the fantastic collection to drive to Schloss Dyck from the Cologne Plant.
The weather was fantastic, the roads free and the place full of fantastic cars. And people. And cars… and even more people. And more cars.
As nice as it is to be there and see all those cars and enjoy the event and spirit, photography wise its not an ideal place. Beyond some nice memorable snapshots. Well there are also always some nice “tricks” you can try to get some nice and clean shots. Change the perspective, format, use a powerful flash and overpower the sun, have assistants with large backgrounds running around. Not having brought the flash or any assistants and large backgrounds I decided to just enjoy the whole experience, good talks, great waffles and cold drinks. Still… the inner photo nerd sometimes get through and kicks and screams “IF JUST I HAD MY RANGER WITH ME OR SOME MOLTON AND COULD MOVE THAT UGLY CAR IN THE BACKGROUND THAN I COULD SHOOT THE AUBURN WITHOUT ANY DISTRACTIONS AND UGLINESS!”.
So if you don’t mind my photographic Jekyll & Hyde -ness, proceed and enjoy.
