model photography – judith – checking in

A few weeks ago I had a very spontaneous shooting with a new model I wanted to shoot with for a bit now.

One of our appointments fell through, so I was very delighted when I got her mail. Though two hours might be a tad too short notice. :-)I am all for spontaneous shootings and all, but obviously a bit of preparation elevates the shoot.

Unfortunately I could not find a makeup artist as I like my models to concentrate on the modeling part and not worry about makeup or anything else. You can’t have it all and hey, for a get to know each other shoot it went very well. Judith is just getting into modeling for herself, but she brings the right attitude, is very friendly and open for ideas. I am very much looking forward to work with her again.

As for the photos we started with natural light coming through the big windows behind her, but as the light was shifting way to quickly I set up up one of my large 2 meters by meters Lastolite Skylites behind her and shot one of my Elinchrom RX 600 through it for the same effect. Soon went over to fill with a large reflective 2×1 meters Skylite as she was going too dark from most angles, but I ended up using a second RX 600 as a fill. As our timeframe was coming to an end we changed the setup quickly for a few portrait shots in front of a black background and we were done.
