F-CELL World Drive – gear and arrival day

So february went over quicker than I thought. and the Mercedes Benz F-CELL World Drive and my road trip approached with warp speed. As so often I started packing in the last minute also due to my little drivers license problem of course.

As for gear I might have gone a bit overboard. We are in the car all the time anyway so it is kind of ok. I am planning on quite a few shoots along the way with Tom and I have two or three shoots in California so I brought along some lighting gear also.

Apart from some clothing you see here in the photos I am packing my trusty D3s for photo and video, my D3 as a backup for photo. My Panasonic GF1 as backup and  a second cam for video. on top of that Panasonic was kind enough to loan me a LX-5 for the trip which will be my “undercover” cam for photo and video. My iPhone obviously will be in heavy duty use also and just for kicks a Kodak Playsport if we wanna go crazy.

The train ride from Cologne to Frankfurt Airport wasn’t so good as I couldn’t get to my seat, so I stood in the hallway most of the time. Everything from there on was just great. Flying business class for the first time already messed up my whole air traveling future. It really makes such a big difference… who would have guessed 🙂

Landing  in New Orleans we realizes it is Mardi Gras time, which made for a nice after dinner activity as we went for a walk on Bourbon street.
